High or tilted caps
A cap that has not followed the intended thread may reach resistance without reaching the correct seat. Identify the engagement problem rather than applying more force to it.
Re-tightening decisions
Re-torquing applies another tightening operation to a cap that is already fitted. It can be assessed as a planned process stage, but should not be used as a blanket repair for loose, high, tilted or leaking caps. First establish the defect, the package history and whether the closure supplier permits the proposed treatment.

Diagnostic boundary
A cap that has not followed the intended thread may reach resistance without reaching the correct seat. Identify the engagement problem rather than applying more force to it.
Split, stripped or deformed components need a documented disposition. A reading inside a torque window does not restore damaged geometry.
Tightening again does not recreate intact bridges or restore the original opening evidence. Separate the functional requirement from the measured resistance.
A missing, damaged or incorrectly seated liner is not repaired merely by changing torque. An induction-seal concern must be reviewed with the liner and sealing-process evidence.
Confirm where and under what conditions the pack leaks. Retightening before diagnosis can remove useful evidence while leaving the underlying cause unresolved.
Keep packs with missing lot or rework records outside an approved trial population until their status has been resolved.
Connected processes
A proposed post-sealing cap treatment must be reviewed as part of the complete bottle, liner and sealer process. Define whether the cap is tightened before sealing, after a specified cooling condition or not again at all. The capper supplier cannot determine that sequence from the cap diameter alone.
Record the original application conditions, sealer settings, time or condition at the additional operation, and opening and seal checks afterwards. Do not infer the correct sequence from a different product’s line. Buyer questions
A belt or spindle system may be assessed for a defined additional tightening task, but feasibility depends on the incoming cap, bottle support, contact geometry and approved package outcome. The existing machine range does not establish that every product is suitable for rework.
Not by default. The relationship must be established from the approved package and process evidence. Raising the setting without checking threads, liners, bottle support and test timing can conceal or worsen the original problem.
No. The original bridges or other tamper feature cannot be reinstated by another tightening operation. The package owner must determine the permitted disposition and whether replacement components or rejection are required.
Do not reach into moving capping heads, belts or conveyors to carry out an adjustment or recover a pack. Use the machine instructions and the site’s safe isolation and intervention arrangements; the handling method needs to be included in the production risk assessment.
